All pastors, church staff, pastoral counselors, lay counselors, parish nurses and professional counselors are invited to attend "Pastoral Couseling in Crisis Situations" -- a workshop to be held at D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital this Thursday.
The event, which begins at 7:30 a.m. on April 29, will help church leaders and healthcare workers improve their skills for ministering to individuals, families and the community during times of crisis. Participants will learn the basics of spritual counseling, intregrating psychological and spiritual ideas, specific skills needed for crisis counseling and more.
Workshop sessions will be lead by Dr. Tommy W. Smith with Pathway Professional Counseling; Rev. Pat Andrews, director of missions for Escambia Baptist Association; and Rev. Michael King of North Brewton Baptist Church.
Everyone who completes Thursday's workshop will recieve 3.0 Continuing Education Credits and a certificate of training. A registration fee of $10 covers breakfast and handouts, but there is no tuition cost.
For more information on the workshop, call Tommy W. Smith at 809-3191. The workshop is sponsored by D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital Chaplain Associate Program and the hospital's Faith in Action Team.
