Sidelined for 17 days due to a fracture in her non-pitching hand, T.R. Miller Lady Tigers pitcher Halie Ellis probably is not at 100 percent just yet.
Try telling that to the W.S. Neal Lady Blue Eagles.
Ellis had a dominanting performance in her return to the mound Friday, as she tossed a one-hitter in T.R. Miller's 11-0, five-inning win. The junior righthander had good control throughout, as she struck out seven and walked none.
The Lady Tigers (10-5), who assured themselves of no worse than a .500 season, made quick work of the Lady Eagles (3-8) when they raced to a 9-0 lead in the firts two innings.
Four of those runs came in the first inning thanks largely to a two-run homer by Terri Lynne Peacock. Rebekah Neal added an RBI single and Emily Layton had an RBI fielder's choice.
In a five-run second inning, T.R. Miller got consecutive RBI singles by Neal, Terri Lynne Peacock and Courtney Krehbiel. Charity Coleman added an RBI groundout.
Neal picked up third hit in as many innings with an RBI single in the third inning to put the 10-run rule into effect. T.R. Miller's last run scored in the fourth inning courtesy of an RBI single by Catherine Layton.
W.S. Neal got its lone safety in the second inning when Abbie Howard singled.
