On Tuesday, April 27, the Eastern Escambia Chapter of the American Red Cross will welcome the public for an Open House from 1 to 6 p.m.
The Eastern Escambia Chapter, founded 87 years ago, moved to its new location at 1014 Douglas Avenue in October after previously being housed on the second floor of the Courthouse Annex.
Martin said that since moving to the new location, the Red Cross chapter has more volunteers and more people dropping in for information.
At the Open House this week, literature will be available to everyone on dealing with hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, earthquakes, thunderstorms and more.
The Eastern Escambia Chapter also has available for purchase handbooks on babysitting and pet first aid.
On Tuesday, visitors can stop in for refreshments, register for prizes and see what the American Red Cross has to offer.
In addition to emergency and disaster response, the American Red Cross is responsible for a number of things that serve the public. For example, the Red Cross transmits emergency messages between men and women in the military and their families.
They also offer health classes, organize blood drives, participate in Project Share and accept donation of clothing and other items.
