The Brewton Public Library is expecting a special guest this week -- 2004 Draughon Lecturer Mary Ann Neeley.
Neeley will be speaking at the library Thursday night at 6 p.m., and she will discuss the impact of "King Cotton" on Alabama's history.
Neeley has said, "Cotton's story is that of every Alabamian for its threads are the background upon which our story is woven." She is former executive director of the Alabama Landmarks Foundation and founding director of Old Alabama Town in Montgomery.
The Draughon Seminars in State and Local History are sponsored by the Auburn University Center for the Arts and Humanities and are hosted by libraries, schools, local history and heritage organizations and other public groups.
