With this letter I would like to commend the city of Brewton for their quality citizens, healthcare expertise and recognition of importance for continuing education.
Big city expertise and vision with small town grace and charm is what continuing education is about at the Alabama State University, Southern Normal Campus (ASU,SNC) in Brewton. Dr. Margaret Breland Bradley and a group of Brewton's local healthcare providers were able to make a difference in neonatal healthcare in Louisiana.
Recently, Louisiana made some changes in their educational requirements for licensing of their nurse practitioners. After exhausting all efforts with Louisiana Universities as well as national organizations, I phoned ASU,SNC and spoke with Dr. Bradley. She acted immediately with great sensitivity to our need and put into place a program that afforded us the ability to maintain our license.
The neonatal and neonatal nurse-practitioners of Louisiana would like to give a special thanks to everyone associated with the "Advanced Continuing Education Pharmacology Course for Neonatal Nurse Practitioner" held in Brewton April 22-25. Again, thanks to Dr. Margaret Breland Bradley, Director of Alabama State University, Southern Normal Campus; Ms. Carla Johnson, ASU,SNC secretary; Ruth Harrell, RN, MPH, a delightful activist for the field of nursing; Martha-Dawn Singleton, CRNP; Ann Lambert, CRPN; Carolyn Jennings, Program Coordinator for LTRTA and a special thanks to three wonderful ladies that volunteered their time, Jewel Lewis, Edna Banks and Hattie Boyd.
