Mr. John Lee Anthony, 71, of Jay Road, died Saturday, May 8, 2004 at a local nursing facility after an extended illness. He was a native of Evergreen and a former resident of Jay, Fla. before moving to Brewton in 1977. He was retired from Herrington Logging Company and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Tillery.
He is survived by three sons, John Anthony Jr. and Chris Anthony both of Greenville and Kenny Anthony of Jay; three daughters, Brenda Clark and April Langford, both of Greenville and Carol Black of LaPine, Ala.; three brothers, Robert Anthony and Bud Anthony, both of East Brewton and Bill Anthony of Pensacola; two sisters, Bonnie Hoomes of Pensacola and Billy Jean Rooney of Texas; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild and special friends Liz and Clifford Moye of East Brewton.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 11, at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joel Brister officiating. Burial followed at Fort Crawford Cemetery in East Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
