A Brewton man was arrested Monday afternoon following a two hour manhunt in the McCall Community. The hunt began shortly after noon on Monday when Sgt. Monte McGougin from the Escambia County Sheriff's Office and Lt. Keith Hutchins of the 21st Judicial Drug Task Force served a warrant on Troy Boutwell at a residence located at 390 Snider Road in the McCall Community. The warrant was from the Escambia County Sheriff's Office in Florida and the charge was Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
When McGougin and Hutchins attempted to arrest Boutwell at the residence, Boutwell fled into the woods. McGougin and Hutchins immediately began setting up a perimeter and calling for assistance. Other deputies and investigators from the Sheriff's Office responded to the area attempting to locate Boutwell.
The tracking team from the Alabama Department of Corrections Fountain Prison, was called and they responded to assist. Once the tracking team arrived it only took the officers about an hour to locate Boutwell hiding in a wooded area near Crossley Lane.
Captain McMullen said, "I want to thank the quick response of the prison tracking team. Captain Mustin and Sgt. Braddock are always willing to help the law enforcement agencies in this county track down fleeing suspects and I want them to know that we really appreciate it."
At the time of this media release, Boutwell is in the Escambia County Detention Center awaiting extradition to Escambia County, Florida.
