Allen Dewayne Piland, 3, died Friday, May 29, after a drowning accident.
According to Major Mike Murphy with the Escambia County Sheriff's Office, Piland was found in a neighbor's above-ground pool on Hwy. 29, and was taken to D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital. There, the child was revived and then transferred by Life Flight to a Pensacola hospital where he later died.
Piland was the son of Leisha Piland of Andalusia and Joseph Lamar Burkett of Brewton and the grandson of Lisa Price and Alan Piland, both of Andalusia and Thersa Beth McGowin of Brewton.
