T.R. Miller Tigers first baseman Trent Davidson has received Honorable Mention on the Alabama Sports Writers Association All-State Baseball Team for Class 3A.
Davidson led the Tigers in batting average this spring at .432 (41-for-95). He was second on the squad in homeruns with four and RBIs with 29.
Although Davidson's selection is for his first base duties, he was also a big contributor on the mound where he posted a 7-1 record with a 3.33 earned run average. Davidson struck out 32 batters in 42 innings.
The Class 3A Team consisted of catcher Dustin Rhodes of Central-Florence, first baseman Jeremy Nolan of Alabama Christian, second baseman Justin Jackson of Holtville, shortstop David Needham of Piedmont, third baseman J.T. Sims of Oneonta, outfielders Jon Glenn of Madison Academy, Eric Moore of Central-Florence and Thomas Carroll of Alabama Christian, designated hitter Jeremy Porter of Winfield, and utility players B.J. Cranford of Ashville and Tripp Swann of Montgomery Academy.
Pitchers included Michael McNair of Montgomery Academy, Nathan Russ of Central-Florence, Devin Burden of Colbert County and Brandon Ligon of Northside.
In addition to Davidson, other Honorable Mention selections included first baseman Jordan Steele of Dadeville, second basemen Robbie Pritchard of Dadeville and Kent Colvin of Crossville, shortstop Justin Bracewell of Straughn, third baseman Blake Boyett of Sulligent, outfielders Nathan Gordon of Clarke County, Elijah Daniel of Pike County and Brody Cornelius of Oneonta, catcher Spenser Matjazik of Elkmont and pitchers Zach Wilbanks of Winfield and Robby Davis of Glencoe.
Central-Florence's Nathan Russ was named Class 3A Player of the Year and Alabama Christian's Chris Goodman was named Coach of the Year.

W.S. Neal defensive lineman Chris Johnson is now part of the South team for the upcoming Alabama North-South Game, which will be held in Montgomery July 17.
Johnson, who has signed to play at Itawamba Junior College in Mississippi, was originally selected as a first alternate for the game.
"One of the players selected ahead of Chris for his position was an alternate for the Alabama-Mississippi game and he got an opportunity to play in that contest. That opened up a spot for Chris. He learned he would get to play in the game a couple of weeks ago and he is really excited," W.S. Neal coach Shane Smothers said.
Johnson is not the only Blue Eagle who will particiate in the North-South Game. Running back Alphonso Gross was selected for the game when the original player list was announced.
Winners have been announced from last weekend's Three-on-Three Basketball Tournament, which was held at Burnt Corn Park in Brewton and sponsored by Brewton Sportsman.
On the men's adult side, the winning combination was Andrew Lambeth, Greg McCall, Mandell Smith and Darrell Cohen.
In girls age 18-and-under, Krystle Smith, Ashley Samuel, Jasmine Sanford and Keonshaye Lane came out on top.

Brad Codrius, while Latasha Boykin, Brittany Watson and Kanisha Redbern prevailed on the girls side for that age level.
In boys age 11 and under, Lateysia Montgomery and Jalen Jones took the crown. The name of the third member of that team was not available.
Although Deanna Jackson had only two points, the T.R. Miller graduate had eight rebounds and three assists in the Indiana Fever's 79-60 win over San Antonio Tuesday.
Prior to that contest, Jackson and the Fever had a forgettable 63-41 loss to Charlotte. Jackson had five points, two rebounds and two assists in that game.
Through four games Jackson is averaging 6.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists for Indiana, which has a 2-2 record. Jackson is shooting 28 percent from the field and 64 percent from the free throw line.
There will be a Hunter Education Course offered by the Alabama Game and Fish Department at the Castleberry Volunteer Fire Department on July 8-10 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The class will be held for boys and girls who are at least 12 years of age. Parents are urged to attend.
Participants must provide some form of identification which has their social security number.
