Pairings set for Little League, Babe Ruth district tourneys

Brewton and East Brewton have drawn a first-round matchup in the opening round of the Age 9-10 Little League District Tournament.
In fact, the Brewton-East Brewton game will kick off the tournament, which will be played at Opp, June 26 at 6 p.m.
A second first-round game will also be played on the tournament's first day when Andalusia hooks up with Covington County at 8 p.m.
The tournament's two other participants, Evergreen and Opp, drew first-round byes. Both of those squads will open up play on the tournament's second day on June 27.
Evergreen will battle the Andalusia/Covington County winner at 6 p.m., while Opp will get the Brewton-East Brewton winner at 8 p.m.
The Brewton/East Brewton loser will drop into the elimination bracket where it will play again June 28 at 6 p.m. against the Evergreen/Andalusia/Covin-gton County side of the bracket.
The tournament will continue through July 2 with a first championship game set for July 1 at 7 p.m. If necessary, a second championship game will be played July 2 at 7 p.m.
Rosters for the Brewton and East Brewton Age 9-10 All-Star squads have been announced.
The East Brewton team will be coached by James Carroll and assisted by Timbo Anthony and Colby Langham.
East Brewton's players include Dillon Anthony, Taylor Ballard, Ben Bounds, Keith Bradley, Hayden Cooper, Dalton Evans, Brewer Grimes, Reid Johnson, Houston Pace, Luke Smothers, Logan Williamson and Trent Wright.
The Brewton team will be coached by Randy Denton and assisted by David Maddox and Terry Reiss.
Brewton's roster includes Randy Davis, Conner Denton, Tyler Etheridge, Collin Graves, Collin Langford, Wesley Maddox, Louis Miller, Shawn Odom, Christian Purvis, Parker Reiss, Kameron Winn and Aaron Yuhasz.

Although rosters for the Age 11-12 Little League All-Stars can not be announced at this time, the district brackets have been set. That tournament will be held at Andalusia and starts July 3.
Two first-round games will be played July 3. Evergreen meets Covington County at 6 p.m. followed by a Brewton-Opp matchup at 8 p.m.
East Brewton and Andalusia drew first-round byes. They begin play July 4. East Brewton gets the Brewton-Opp winner at 6 p.m., while Andalusia gets the Evergreen-Covington County winner at 8 p.m.
The Brewton-Opp loser will drop into the elimination bracket and play again July 5 at 8 p.m.
The tournament continues through July 9. The first championship game will be played July 8 at 7 p.m. If necessary, a second championship contest is slated for July 9 at 7 p.m.

In Babe Ruth action, Brewton will host the Age 13 District 7 Tournament.
That tournament gets underway June 24 with two first-round games. Atmore and South Monroe will square off at 5:30 p.m., while Brewton tangles with Monroeville at 7:30 p.m.
The two winners will meet in a championship semifinal June 25 at 5:30 p.m., while the two losers will meet in that day's second game at 7:30 p.m.
The tournament could conclude as early as June 26. An elimination semifinal game will be played at 4 p.m. The winner of that contest will advance to the championship game at 6 p.m.
If necessary, a second championship game will be played June 27 at a time to be announced.
In age 14, the district tournament will be held at Frisco City.
That tournament starts July 1 with a first-round matchup between Brewton and Atmore at 5:30 p.m.
The other first-round matchup between South Monroe and Monroeville will take place July 2 at 5:30 p.m.
The two first-round winners will meet in the semifinals July 3 at 12 noon, while the two first-round losers will play that day at 5 p.m. The elimination semifinal game will be July 4 at 2 p.m.
The championship game is slated for July 5 at 5:30 p.m. If necessary, a second championship game is slated for July 6 at 5:30 p.m.
In age 15, the district tournament will also be held at Frisco City.
That tournament starts July 1 with a first-round battle between Atmore and Evergreen at 7:30 p.m. The other first-round game will be played July 2 at 7:30 p.m. between Monroeville and South Monroe.
Brewton drew a first-round bye. Its first action is not until July 3 at 2:30 p.m. when it meets the Atmore/Evergreen winner at 2:30 p.m.
Brewton would advance to the semifinals on July 4 at 4:30 p.m. with a win. It would drop into an elimination bracket game on July 5 at 7:30 p.m. with a loss.
Another elimination bracket game will be held July 6 at 7:30 p.m. followed by the
championship contest on July 7 at 5:30 p.m. If necessary, a second championship game will follow at 7:30 p.m.
The rosters for the Brewton teams have been picked and are expected to be released later this week.
