The Brewton Community Association is moving forward with its plans to make Brewton a city to be reckoned with. They have plans for a welcome center within the next few months and are getting mementos and souvenirs ready to be sold.
The first item is a poster called "Doors of Brewton" which is now available at NDI-Cracked Pot in downtown Brewton. This is a poster that is made up of assorted doors from around town, photographed by Michael Duncan of Duncan McCall Agency of Pensacola, Fla.
Other Brewton items will be ready by September and will also be available at the Cracked Pot. As soon as the welcome center is ready all the items will go on sale there. All monies, above the cost of manufacture, will go toward the Brewton Community Association to be used for historic preservation and economic development programs.
Another plan in the works is to have a contest for local artists to draw or paint their rendition of "Christmas in Brewton" to be used on a Brewton Christmas card. A deadline of Sept. 15, 2004 has been set for those wishing to submit and it is open to all ages. A committee will select one drawing or painting to be used on a Christmas card for 2004.
The cards will then be sold to raised money to be used by the Brewton Community Association.
The Association is calling upon all residents of Brewton to support this local effort to make Brewton a place that will have something for everyone.
