The threat of flooding is not a new problem for Brewton or East Brewton -- and neither is the quest for solutions to and preventions for flood damage.
City officials have been working with the Army Corps of Engineers for several years to devise a flood mitigation plan, and at this stage, a levee seems to be the most attractive option.
Everyone in the communities of Brewton and East Brewton will have a chance to learn more about what the Corps of Engineers has planned at a meeting this Tuesday night. At 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 20, all residents and business people in the area are welcome to attend the informational meeting in the city council room of the City of Brewton Municipal Complex.
This will be an opportunity to show the Army Corps of Engineers how important flood mitigation is to our community, and to gain some understanding of what options are being considered and on what timetable those options might be implemented.
