East Brewton council and mayor all facing opposition

Qualification for Brewton's and East Brewton's municipal elections ended July 20, and most incumbents for both cities will have competition in the Aug. 24 elections.
In East Brewton's mayoral race, incumbent Terry Clark will face Charles Fountain and former mayor Bernie C. Raines.
East Brewton Council Place 1 is being sought by incumbent Huey Johnson, Bob Arrant and Terri Minchew.
Candidates for Place 2 are Kenny Hultz, Geoffrey McGraw and Priscilla Thompson West. Ronnie Byron Palmer will face Debi Travis Steadman for Place 3.
In the race for Place 4, incumbent Dewayne King is opposed by Henry Hooks. Bettie Jo Jordan, Michael Cosey and Wayne Howard have qualified to run for Place 5.
Brewton mayor Ted Jennings and District 2 Brewton City Council member Frank Cotten will be unopposed in this election.
For Brewton's District 1 council seat, Ann Marie Sasser has qualified to run against incumbent Dennis Dunaway.
Homer Hamilton will face incumbent Cary Barton in the race for District 2. Lawrence Jolly has qualified to oppose Walter "Jake" Lewis in the race for District 4, and Henry Uptagrafft and Fred Barton have qualified along with Mervin Huff to run for District 5. By
