Hamilton qualifies to run for Brewton District 3 seat

Homer Hamilton has qualified to run for a seat on the Brewton City Council for District Three. He served in this position for eight years from 1992 to 2000.
Hamilton is a Brewton native and worked in the Brewton City School System for 38 years. After retirement from teaching, her served as an assistant to the principal from 1997 to 2000, as manager and supervisor of the Middle School swimming pool and continues to work as a volunteer during the regular school year.
He attended local schools and graduated from Southern Normal. He graduated with a bachelor's degree from Alabama State University with a major in elementary education and a minor in social studies. He received a master's degree and has completed 12 hours toward the AA.
He has been honored by the City of Brewton for 25 years of service as Director of Summer Recreation in the middle school and Sportsman Park area and by the NAACP for community service during 1979 and 1980.
He is married to Mamie Strong Hamilton and they have a total of 11 children. He is a member of Baptist Hill Baptist Church, committee member of the Boy Scouts, member of Progressive Lodge 943 and a past president and vice president of the Brewton Education Association.
