Industrial Authority makes progress in park planning

The Tri-County Industrial Authority held a meeting in Atmore. July 20. Chairman Yank Lovelace reported that he had attended a follow-up meeting with Thompson Engineering of Mobile. They are set to conduct a Phase I study on all remaining property, sample borings, and a wetlands study. There will be an additional meeting before a final contract with them is signed.
The Campaign Invest committee, chaired by Sam Covert and Jim Byrd presented a plan developed by Funding Solution, Inc. of Austin, TX and Decatur, Al. The firm proposed a two phase approach beginning with a Leadership Assessment that includes developing a comprehensive strategic plan and conducting interviews with elected, community and business leaders from the tri-county area. Phase II of the plan will include implementing the strategic plan and fund raising. The Authority voted to engage the firm to proceed with Phase I.
The Authority had invited several members of the Atmore community including Mayor Shell and Tribal Chairman Tullis. After the meeting there was a tour of the Atmore area. Brewton will be the location for the next meeting.
The Tri-County Interstate Industrial Authority is a group of community leaders appointed by the three counties of Conecuh, Monroe and Escambia County, Alabama to oversee the economic and business growth of the Tri-County Area.
