The City of East Brewton is growing. Mayor Terry Clark and Barbara Ann Properties announced Thursday, Aug. 5, that a new shopping center will be built across the street from Fred's and East Brewton Plaza.
According to Michael Grapp/, of Barbara Ann Properties, the shopping center will contain seven shops which will be available for both retail and office space.
The construction will begin in about 90 days and will cover 15,000 square feet.
According to Grapp/, more than $1 million will be invested into the shopping center and it will probably employ around 50 people when all the shops are occupied.
Clark said he's very excited to be working with Barbara Ann Properties and Grapp/.
The one business committed to the shopping center is a Chinese restaurant, called Jin's.
The owner, Jin Bin Hua, has four restaurants open already with the nearest being Chen's in Atmore.
He says they will specialize in Americanized Chinese food along with a very good selection of sea foods served buffet style.
He also intends to invest in making sure that the interior of the restaurant is unique, attractive and inviting to diners.
