Mrs. Lelar Davis Simmons, 88, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004 at her Brewton residence. She was a native of Georgia but had lived most of her life in the Brewton area. She was a homemaker and a member of the Spiritual True Holiness Temple. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Simmons and a brother, Kenneth Davis.
She is survived by six sons, William Simmons, John Simmons and Ulysses Simmons, all of St. Louis, Mo., Kenneth Simmons of Brewton, Robert Simmons of Georgia and Samuel Simmons of Colorado; one daughter, Marilyn Simmons of Brewton; two brothers, Ossie Davis of New York and Willie Davis of Texas.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 18, at 2 p.m. at the Spiritual True Holiness Church with Overseer Bernetta J. Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery with Craver's Funeral Home directing.
