Former Brewton City Council member Henry Uptagrafft defeated four-term council member Mervin Huff by a three-vote margin Tuesday.
Uptagraft collected 104 votes to Huff's 101.
Uptagraft, who trailed Huff by two ballots in August voting, said he thought several factors contributed to his win.
He said he thought it was a combination of seeing all the voters, knocking on doors, and the support of those who cast ballots for Fred Barton in the August election that put him over the top.
No absentee ballots were cast in the run-off election, which drew 205 voters. There were 229 votes cast in the August 25th election.
