Through just one agency, United Fund helps 10 programs, many lives

United Fund of Brewton and East Brewton provides funding that helps the Southwest Alabama Mental Health/Mental Retardation Board operate 10 different programs.

In the weeks following Hurricane Ivan, Southwest Alabama Mental Health/Mental Retardation planned to train its employees in a program called "Project Rebound" in which they would canvas area residents in a door-to-door effort to ensure they were coping with the aftermath of the storm.
Southwest Alabama Mental Health/Mental Retardation is one of 15 agencies that will benefit from the $90,000 United Fund hopes to raise for 2005. As of Friday, the organization had raised $33,510.
United Fund asks citizens to give the equivalent of one hour's wages each month. Donations can be mailed to United Fund of Brewton and East Brewton at P.O. Box 34, Brewton, AL 36427.
