Brewton City Board of Education member Terrell Neal asked the board to consider reinstating a weighted system for determining grade point averages in T.R. Miller High School.
When a weighted system is in place, grades earned in advanced courses are "weighted," having greater influence on grade point average that a regular course.
Superintendent Lynn Smith said the high school stopped weighing courses when it moved to offering an honors diploma.
Neal said the policy penalizes students at some colleges and universities.
Smith said he would have officials from the high school discuss the issue with board members at a later meeting.
