Mr. Dewey L. Henderson Jr., 65, died Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at his residence. He was a native and a resident of Flomaton for many years. He was a licensed electrician and worked for Champion in Pensacola for over 38 years. He was a member of the U.S. Army 1959-1962. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey L. Henderson Sr. and Mattie L. Henderson, and a sister, Carrie M. Blair.
He is survived by his wife, Willie Mae Henderson of Century, Fla.; four daughters, Arvanetes "Nene" Redmond of Walnut Hill, Fla., Veta Jones-Griffin of Shreveport, La., Gina Jones of Compton, Ga. and Valerie Neilley of Pensacola; three sons, Dewey L. Henderson III of Augusta, Ga., and Marvin Mitchell and John Mitchell, both of Century; two sisters, Bernice Jefferson of Cleveland, Ohio and Priscilla McWhorter of Century; 25 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 5, at 2 p.m. at Fanny Baptist Church with the Rev. Herman Stanton officiating. Burial followed at Fanny/Damascus Cemetery with Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing.
