Get friends out of 'jail,' Support Cardiac Arrest
A number of local citizens will be arrested this Thursday for a good cause.
They'll be raising money for the American Heart Association's "Cardiac Arrest" fundraiser, seeking donations to help them "make bail" and "get out of jail."
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) does not discriminate. It is the No. 1 killer of people in Alabama and No. 2 in the United States. Women are 12 times more likely to die from cardiovascular disease than breast cancer. In fact, approximately half a million women each year succumb to CVD - that's a death a minute.
Funds raised at this event will ensure lifesaving cardiovascular research continues; prevention education at both school and community levels continues; updates and education of healthcare professionals may take place; and awareness of the risk factors associated with CVD is increased.
When you're approached about helping someone you know "get out of jail," support this very worthy cause.
