Local law enforcement officials Friday night captured an inmate who had escaped last week from the Covington County Jail.
Deputies with the Escambia County Sheriff's Office, agents from the 21st Judicial Drug Task Force and an officer from the Alabama Department of Conservation captured Darrell Ray Henry, age 34, on Poindexter Lane, in the Dixie Community on the east end of Escambia County.
Henry escaped from the Covington County Jail the previous morning along with Oscar Ray Doster and James Harnage. Henry was found driving a 2002 Dodge truck that had been reported stolen from the City of Andalusia's city garage.
At press time, Doster and Harnage were still at large.
Covington County Sheriff Anthony Clark said Monday afternoon that deputies and other law enforcement agencies have been aggressively searching for the remaining two inmates.
"We've been working day in and day out searching for these two individuals," Clark said.
"We are receiving leads all of the time and following up on every single one. I have been on the road with the deputies searching for these two inmates, hoping that we will have a major break soon.
"None of us have gotten much sleep since this happened," Clark said. "We are working around the clock to bring these two men back into custody."
In the meanwhile, the search for Doster and Harnage continues to focus on Covington County and the surrounding area, has also been expanded to include all of the southeastern United States.
"We are using everything at our disposal to apprehend these two and return them to jail," Clark said.
McMullen urged anyone show sees Doster or Harnage or any suspicious activity, to please call the Sheriff's Office at 809-0741 or just dial 911.
