James Henry Hodges Sr.

Mr. James Henry Hodges Sr., 76, died Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at his residence. He was a native of Hilliard, Fla., and had been a resident of the Brewton area since 1957, coming from Fernandina Beach, Fla. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served with the U.S. Army Air Corps and the U.S. Army. He was retired from Container Corporation of America, a member of North Brewton Baptist Church and the Masons. He was preceded in death by four brothers, George Hodges, Harry Hodges, Theodore Hodges and Harry Qwinn, and one sister, Alline Bird.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy Hodges of East Brewton; four children, Mary Anne (Paul) Brantley of East Brewton, James (Angela) Hodges Jr. of Moundville, Kathy (Gary) Pugh of Opp, and Debbie (Sam) Klemm of Tuscaloosa; one brother, Jesse (Gwendolyn) Hodges of Hilliard; two sisters, Juanita (Aldine) Tomlinson of Folkston, Ga., and Carolyn (Marvin) Hinson of Hilliard; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 29, at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Craver's Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael King officiating. Burial followed at Fort Crawford Cemetery with Craver's Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Jesse Michael Hodges, Daniel Hodges, Kevin Benton, Jeremy Hodges, Matthew Hodges and Norman Hodges. Honorary pallbearers were Johnny Feagin, Mervin Huff, Robert Maddox, Larry Smith, Curtis Gates, Fred Salter, Raymond Rydowski and Willie Jones.
