An East Brewton man died Sunday while traveling on Santa Rosa County Road 89, approximately two miles north of Jay.
Stephen C. Ripple, 34 of 121 Schad Street, died in a one-vehicle accident at 12:25 a.m. According to a news release from the Florida Highway Patrol, Ripple's 1994 Saturn was traveling north on SR 89 at approximately 55 miles per hour while entering a curvature of the roadway.
His vehicle drove onto the east shoulder of SR 89 for approximately 271 feet before his vehicle struck a utility pole. Ripple's vehicle turned onto its right side and he was partially ejected from the vehicle.
The accident is still under investigation with Cpl. D. P. Maddox of the Florida Highway Patrol as the investigating trooper.
