JDCC pitcher makes ACCC South Team
Jefferson Davis Community College Lady Warhawks pitcher Nikki Madden has landed a spot on the All-Alabama Community College Conference South Division Team for the 2005 season.
Madden, a freshman righthander from Laurel Hill (Fla.), had a sparkling 1.58 earned run average despite a 10-18 overall record with two saves.
Madden posted 120 strikeouts and allowed 176 hits and 34 walks in 196 innings of work.
Madden was the lone JDCC player to make the ACCC South Team.
Madden was joined on the squad by Chelsey Howard and Nikki Terryn of Enterprise, Ashley Hartzog of L.B. Wallace, Lindsey Bedsole of Faulkner State, Kayla Jordan and Sheila Jordan of Alabama Southern, April O'Neal, Tabitha Baxter and Whitney Valentine of Bishop State and Holly Elliott, Mallory Benak and Amanda Gatlin of Wallace State-Dothan.
Wallace State-Dothan pitcher Blair Potter was named the ACCC South Player of the Year.
JDCC softball coach Misti Nims has added Tate High School (Fla.) first baseman Rayna Hall to her 2006 recruiting class.
Nims has also signed a pair of recruits for her Lady Warhawks volleyball team.
One of those signings is Jessica Stafford, a 5-9 setter/middle hitter from Jay (Fla.)

JDCC also signed Brandy Bernt, a 6-0 middle hitter from Robinson High School in Tampa (Fla.).

JDCC basketball player Chris Owens will continue his playing career next season at NCAA Division III member Chowan College in Murfreesboro (NC).
Owens, a 6-0 soph. from Santa Rosa Beach (Fla.), averaged 0.57 points a game in a backup guard role.
