Qualifying ended this week for the summer's municipal elections. In Brewton, incumbent Mayor Ray Sherer is opposed by pharmacist Cliff Coppage.. In East Brewton, incumbent Malcolm Edwards and businessman Lovelace Parker are each seeking the mayor's office.
The Brewton Lions Club is celebrating its 45-year history here with a banquet next week. Charter club members participating in that event will include Bryars Byrd, R.J. Murphy, C. B. Knox and S.T. Busey.
