Qualifying ended this week for the summer's municipal elections. In Brewton, incumbent Mayor Ray Sherer is opposed by pharmacist Cliff Coppage.. In East Brewton, incumbent Malcolm Edwards and businessman Lovelace Parker are each seeking the mayor's office.
The Brewton Lions Club is celebrating its 45-year history here with a banquet next week. Charter club members participating in that event will include Bryars Byrd, R.J. Murphy, C. B. Knox and S.T. Busey.
W.S. Neal seniors Kay Fountain and Pat Padgett were honored at a Hawaiian luau at the Fountain farm by Mr. and Mrs. Olen Padgett, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Fountain, Mr. and Mrs. Donnie Fountain, Mr. and Mrs. James Fountain and Mr. and Mrs. T.G. Lowrey.
Nelson-Brantley Glass Co., Inc., a full-service glass shop, opened for business this week in the former Skinner Tire Co. building on Douglas Ave.
