Mrs. Lula Louise Spencer Smith, 87, died Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at a nursing facility in Century after an extended illness. She was a native of Tuscaloosa and a former resident of Mobile before moving to Brewton 37 years ago. She was a homemaker and of the Nazarene faith. She was preceded in death by three sons, Worthy H. Hartley, William E. Rumley and Carl Hartley and three grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, T.C. Nelson of Brewton; three sons, Charles Hartley of Tuscaloosa, Tommy (Rita) Hartley of Brewton, and Jackie (Debra) Hartley of Mobile; 22 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 18, at 10 a.m.. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Jackie Eugene Hartley officiating. Burial followed at Spear Cemetery in Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
