A Georgia man on duty in Escambia County with Pike Electric last week, working to restore power to the Flomaton area, died of electrocution Tuesday.
Forty-one-year-old Ronnie Adams' death was tragic, apparently occuring when an incorrectly-installed generator backfed power to the line on which he was working.
It's a painful lesson that had been preached repeatedly by area officials: If you wire your home to a generator during a power outage, have the process completed by a certified electrician.
Meanwhile, a fund has been established for Adams' wife and two children. The Tri-City Ledger in Flomaton set up the account last week.
Checks payable to the Ronnie Adams Fund may be mailed to:
Escambia County Bank,
P.O. Box 601,
Flomaton, AL 36441
or taken to the bank at 2151 Ringold St., Flomaton.
