Richardsons new owners of Sears
Six months ago, Bill Richardson walked into the local Sears store to buy a microwave. Instead, he and his wife, Felicia, ended up buying the business.
The Richardsons took over ownership of the authorized retail dealer July 3. The couple have lived in the area for 10 years.
Mr. Richardson is originally from Mobile. He moved to Conecuh County and worked with the sheriff's department for nine years and met his wife while working with the department.
Mr. Richardson began as a deputy in the sheriff's department, worked his way up to chief deputy and then became chief of operations.
Mr. Richardson said that he had originally walked into the Sears store six months ago looking to purchase a microwave. He said that he had heard the store might close and he hated to see that happen to the Brewton community.
Mr. Richardson said the biggest change from the sheriff's department coming to Sears was there was "no stress." What he liked the most about working with the sheriff's department was helping out in the community and getting involved.
He plans to have the Sears of Brewton become community-involved in local events and activities and support Brewton in any way they can.
Mr. Richardson said that his customers will be treated like he and his wife would like to be treated when they walk into a store.
