To say Monday morning marks the start of the T.R. Miller Tigers 2005 football season is about like saying the Chicago Cubs are hungry for a World Series championship.
It is a gross understatement.
After months of offseason weightlifting, spring practice and summer camps, the Tigers will hold their first official practice Monday morning at 8 a.m. at Brewton Municipal Stadium.
Head coach Jamie Riggs indicated his squad will practice in the morning Monday and Tuesday before it shifts to early evening workouts beginning Wednesday.
In a day and age where most programs hold two-a-days, Riggs' program is one of the few that conducts one practice a day.
Riggs indicated his squad averaged about 50 varsity players for summer workout sessions.
The Alabama High School Athletic Association made a rule change for this summer that allowed up to seven days of

team competition. The Tigers took advantage of that rule although their original schedule got cut short by Hurricane Dennis.
T.R. Miller was later slated to compete in another Seven-on-Seven competition at Gulf Shores, but that event was cancelled due to the storm.
The T.R. Miller skipper said his team had mixed results in the weightroom.
As practice officially gets underway, Riggs said his team's probable number one priority is its line.
A search for linebackers is also pretty high on Riggs' list of priorities.
One noticeable change for T.R. Miller for this season comes on the coaching staff where Marc Edge has stepped into the defensive coordinator after the retirement of Alan Baker.
