Brewton and East Brewton firefighters will be at Wal-Mart on August 6, 13 and 20 raising money to "fill the boot" on behalf of the Muscular Dystrophy Association for local children and adults with neuromuscular diseases.
The firefighters will be out collecting donations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and are asking that the community support their efforts to defeat muscular dystrophy.
The proceeds will be used locally to provide services for individuals with neuromuscular diseases, including MDA clinics at the Rotary Rehabilitation Center in Mobile, support group sessions and assistance with the purchase of medical equipment.
The Fill-the-Boot efforts will also help fund vital research to find cures for more than 40 neuromuscular diseases, and help support the local MDA's Summer Camp ASCCA in Jackson Gap, Ala.
For 51 years, firefighters across the nation have teamed up with MDA to fight muscle disease.
The Brewton and East Brewton Fire Departments will make a check presentation on the 2005 MDA Labor Day Telethon, Sept. 5 on WJTC 44 (UPN).
Please save your change and help "fill the boot" to save a life.
