Group works for improvements

One Saturday a month, about 20 local volunteers wake up at sunrise to attend a meeting of the Coalition for a Healthier Escambia County.
Ruth Harrell, chair of the coalition, is proud that she and many other people from the area have been able to make significant improvements in the county for more than nine years.
Right now, the coalition is working to continue funding for KidOne Transport, which takes children and pregnant women to hospitals throughout the state, and sometimes to surrounding states.
In the past, they have worked diligently on many worthwhile projects. The coalition's informational brochure dazzles with many of its successful projects.
