Mr. Tellis Sanders Jr., 55, died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2005, in Mobile. He was a native and resident of Evergreen and a former resident of Detroit, Mich., where he worked for Ford Motor Company for eight years. He later moved back to Alabama and retired from Alabama Ductile after 16 years of service. He was a member of Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Tellis Sanders Sr.; an uncle, Willie D. Sanders; a son, Steven Sanders; and three brothers, Willie Roy Sanders, Anthony Sanders and Ronnie Lee Sanders.
He is survived by his children, Glen (Dovie), Alonzo (Kanisha), Derrick and Shawntrice, all of Detroit; his mother, Ethel Lee Sanders of Johnsonville; one brother, Sherman (Linda) Sanders; three sisters, Mary Riley and Ada (Marcus) McMillan, both of Montgomery, and Cynthia Brooks of Johnsonville; nine grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 19, at 11 a.m. at Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Evergreen with the Rev. D. Odoms officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home directing.
