While Hurricane Katrina is not expected to have an impact on Alabama High School Athletic Association varsity football schedules like Hurricane Ivan did last season, it has played havoc with the local school sports calendar.
The T.R. Miller Lady Tigers volleyball team has had their season opener wiped out twice. T.R. Miller was supposed to have opened its season Monday at Jay (Fla.). Katrina wiped out not only that match, but also Tuesday's tri-match at W.S. Neal which also included Thomasville. No make-up date has been announced.
The T.R. Miller "B" football team was supposed to host Escambia County Monday, but that game was cancelled and is not expected to be made up. T.R. Miller is supposed to play Escambia County again, this time at Atmore, next Tuesday.
The Jefferson Davis Community College Lady Warhawks volleyball team had its home opener against Gulf Coast (Fla.) Community College postponed Tuesday. No decision has been made at this time concerning today's match at Faulkner State.

Brewton Youth Football League teams went 2-1 in their season-opening competition Saturday.
The Brewton Mites posted a 28-0 victory over Cantonment (Fla.).
Quarterback Kieon Smith paced the Mites' offense, as he notched one rushing touchdown and threw a touchdown strike to Corey Jackson.
Jackson also had a rushing touchown in the game, as he broke loose on a 55-yard dash to the endzone. Jamal Spears had the other touchdown for the Mites. Darrian Salter and Austin Land added conversions.
The Brewton Midgets downed Cantonment 36-6 thanks to quarterback Bailey Roberson, who rushed for three touchdowns and more than 100 yards. Davib Ikner also ran for more than 100 yards and scored a touchdown. Anthony Hebert added a rushing touchdown. Ricky Curry scored a defensive touchdown, as he returned a fumble 55 yards.
The Brewton Mini Mites lost to Cantonment 13-6.
Terry Samuel provied Brewton with its lone score on a 65-yard touchdown run. Michael Woods had five quarterback sacks on defense.
