Mrs. Benton Marie Sawyer Tucker, 95, died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005, at a Pensacola health care facility. She was a native and former resident of Frisco City, and had resided in Brewton for the past 12 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Frisco City and attended First Baptist Church of Brewton. She was a graduate of Troy State Teachers College and a former elementary schoolteacher in Monroe County. She was also an office manager at the Farmer's Cooperative Market in Frisco City for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Willis Tucker Sr.
She is survived by a son, James Willis (Debra) Tucker Jr. of Mary Esther, Fla.; a daughter, Ann Marie (Mike) Sasser of Brewton and four grandchildren, Tara Tucker (Eric) Carroll, Michael Shane Sasser, James Scott (Carrys) Sasser and Jill Tucker (Clint) Johnson and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 1, at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Brewton with the Rev. Jack Fitts officiating. Burial followed at Union Cemetery in Frisco City with the Rev. Mark McCullough officiating the graveside service with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Scott Sasser, Shane Sasser, Clint Johnson, Eric Carroll, Bart McCrory, Daniel McCrory, Steve McCrory, Dave McCrory and Shannon Sawyer.
