Mr. James Carl Mitchell Sr., 79, died Friday, Sept. 2, 2005, at his residence in Atmore. He was a native of Monroeville and a resident of Atmore for many years. He was a chain saw operator at Scott Paper Company and was preceded in death by his mother, Rosie Findley Mitchell and his father, Ben Mitchell.
He is survived by his wife, Ida Pearl Mitchell of Atmore; five daughters, Barbara Mitchell, Mary Alice Jewel Mitchell, Annie (Otis) Dailey, Linda Faye Crook and Deborah (Abe) Bishop, all of Atmore; five sons, James Carl (Dorothy) Mitchell Jr., Ben Mitchell, Lloyd Mitchell and David (Iris Jean) Mitchell, all of Atmore and Robert (Evelyn) Mitchell of Brewton; three brothers, Homer Mitchell of Atmore, Andrew J. Mitchell of Jackson, Ala., and Melvin (Catherine) Mitchell of Pensacola, Fla.; 32 grandchildren and 56 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held, Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 2 p.m. at Power Pentecostal Holiness Church with Minister Timothy Craft and Apostle Bruce Armstead officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery with Turner Funeral Chapel directing.
