Escambia County law enforcement officials arrested three Brewton residents this week on drug charges.
On Wednesday, Sept. 21, agents with the 21st Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force along with investigators from the Escambia County Sheriff's Department, an investigator from the Escambia County District Attorney's office and officers from the Flomaton Police Department arrested Randy Spears, 37, who was wanted from Okaloosa County Sheriff's Department for unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful distribution of marijuana.
Officials said that Spears was also wanted for two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance from the Escambia County Sheriff's Department.
Agents attempted to stop Spears while he was driving a white Chevrolet Tahoe on Sowell Road.
Spears then led agents on a pursuit for several blocks until he was apprehended on Hurd Street in Brewton, where they found him to be in possession of marijuana.
Spears, whose address is listed at 11 Stallworth Memorial Drive, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, first degree.
In a separate incident on Sept. 21, the same group of law enforcement officials arrested a man and woman at 40774 Hwy. 31 North at M &M Trailer Park, formerly known as Blueberry Hill Trailer Park.
At the residence, agents seized crack cocaine, prescription pills and marijuana. Arrested, were Michael Payne, 29, of 40774 Hwy. 31 North, Brewton, and Sheila Anne Gibson Haveard, 38, whose listed address is 3005 Old Castleberry Road.
Payne was charged with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Haveard was arrested on two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
The 21st Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force is comprised of the following law enforcement agencies: Escambia County Sheriff's Department, Atmore Police Department, East Brewton Police Department, Brewton Police Department, Flomaton Police Department, the Escambia County District Attorney's office and the Escambia County Commission.
The Task Force receives 75 percent of its funding from a grant funded by the Bureau of Justice Affairs Division of the United States Department of Justice and which is administered by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs. The remainder of the funding is provided by the Escambia County Sheriff's Department, Atmore Police Department, Brewton Police Department and the Escambia County District Attorney's office.
