Property owners in Escambia County received 18,671 bills for a collective total of $10,215,143.13 for property taxes this week.
Tax Collector Joy Wiggins said the notices were mailed Friday.
Land owners are billed for property taxes in arrears. Payments were due Oct. 1 and charged late fees and interest if paid after Dec. 31.
The last day to pay, Dec. 31, falls on a Saturday. Wiggins said payments will be considered "on time" if they are postmarked by Dec. 31 and received later.
Of the notices mailed last week, 16,990 went to property owners and 1,681 notices were for mortgaged property. The taxes assessed on non-mortgaged property totaled $9,547,153.89, while the taxes assessed on mortgaged property totaled $667,989.24.
