Mr. John Carlton Franklin, 91, died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005. He was a lifelong resident of Jay. He was preceded in death by his wife, Queen Victoria Franklin; a daughter, Becky Ann Langford and three grandsons.
He is survived by three sons, John (LuAnn) Franklin Jr. of Pace, Fla., and Douglas (Molly) Franklin and Robert Franklin, both of Citronelle; eight daughters, Mary Sue Pittman and Helen Baxley, both of Milton, Fla., Rosa Inez Gibbs of Foley, Lillie Mae Lambert of Andalusia, Faye Franklin of Tallahassee, Fla., Shirley (Kim) Mertens of Souix Falls, S.D., Victoria Franklin of Atlanta, Ga., and Ruby (Dr. Joseph) Fernandez of Enterprise; a sister, Mable Fox of Pensacola, Fla.; a brother-in-law, Kenny (Stella) Knowles of Jay; 19 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 6, at 11 a.m. at Ebenezer Assembly of God with Brother Bobby Carnley officiating and Jay Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Joey Fernandez, Len Baxley, D.C. Lambert, Lee Miller, Earl Murphy and Jimmy Enfinger.
