They are the last of a dying breed and even they will soon be extinct.
While other members from the original 2002 T.R. Miller High School volleyball team have come and gone, seniors Vivian Muth, Terri Lynne Peacock and Stacey Jackson are the only players from that team who are still active.
Even those days for Muth, Peacock and Jackson are numbered. The Lady Tigers begin their final week of regular season play Monday and enter postseason play next week.
While the trio is closing out their high school careers as key figures in the most successful season in T.R. Miller history, they have also endured plenty of frustration the last three years when the program went through its growing pains.
The Lady Tigers had a combined record of 23-47 during their first three years of play, but this year T.R. Miller has set school marks for wins, longest winning streak and first ever wins over Clarke County, Andalusia and Jay.
Terri Lynne Peacock, who is a starting setter, said she, Muth and Jackson have developed a good working relationship over the past four years.
While other members of their class dropped out of the program, Muth said she knew she had to have patience.
Coach Peacock said each member of the original trio has grown as both a player and as a person over the past four seasons.
While each member of the trio has the goal to bring T.R. Miller its first Area Tournament championship, its first regional victory and first state tournament berth, they are also proud of some of their accomplishments so far.
Jackson pointed to her team's current 13-7 record.
Peacock brought up her team's success against particular opponents this season and especially against one opponent for her career.
