The T.R. Miller Tigers extended their winning streak to 11 Friday night in the cross-town rivalry known as the Battle of Murder Creek.
Miller secured a state play-off berth with its 34-22 win over W.S. Neal High School. Neal's play-off status was to be determined by the Slocomb-Dale County game.
The Tigers led the game 20-3 at the half, but the Blue Eagles rallied in the second half, closing the gap to 20-15.
Miller quickly rebutted, extending the score to 27-15, but Neal answered, tightening the gap again to 27-22.
But T.R. Miller would score again with minutes left to play in the annual war, winning 34-22.
There was standing room only in the stadium W.S. Neal principal Phillip Ellis said will hold about 4,000 people. Fans filled the stands and lined the fences to watch the game.
Neal last defeated Miller in regular-season play in 1996. The two teams met again that year in the play-offs, a game Miller won. The Tigers have dominated the series since then, winning every regular season game against Neal and another play-off game in 2003.
