Joe and Carol Gordy, owners of Natural Decorations Inc. of Brewton, in collaboration with the Coalition for Healthier Escambia County , would like to invite all business and community leaders (including elected officials) to the October meeting of the Coalition on Friday, Oct. 28, at noon at NDI in Brewton. This exciting meeting will showcase the Worksite Wellness Program at NDI and will allow the staff from the Alabama Department of Public Health to describe the program as well as to discuss some of the benefits of the wellness project to the employees at NDI.
Wellness programs are designed to increase awareness of the value of staying healthy while allowing the employer to control rising health care costs incurred by employee injuries and illnesses. Studies suggest that wellness programs more than pay for themselves- at a rate of two or three dollars saved for each dollar spent. Wellness programs, also offer a valuable marketing tool to attract and retain employees, members and customers.
The Wellness Program has been in place at NDI for over a year now and this will be an opportunity for area businesses to come and hear first- hand how the program has benefited the organization as a whole. The program can be customized to meet the needs of any business and is available to other businesses throughout the county by way of a contractual agreement with the Alabama Department of Public Health.
