Cops seize 17 bags of cocaine

A man was arrested for possession of drugs on Thursday the Brewton Police Department announced this week.
According to a news release, On Oct. 27, while on routine patrol, officers of the Brewton Police Department came in contact with a blue vehicle parked behind a residence off of Sowell Road.
Officers approached the vehicle and two of the occupants fled on foot. However, one of the subjects was apprehended by the officers, who was later identified as Andre Campbell of Brewton, the news release said.
Upon searching the car, officers discovered a plastic bag containing 17 small bags of a white powdery substance, substance which appeared to be cocaine.
According to the news release, Campbell was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance. The news release further stated that Campbell was placed in the back seat of the patrol car and kicked out a window. He was also charged with criminal mischief, third degree.
Campbell is currently being held at the Escambia County Jail.
