For many years, the Brewton Council of the Arts has been bringing the members of the Birmingham Children's Theatre to perform in front of live audiences, and on Sunday, the classic tale of a girl named Beauty and an ugly Beast struggling to find the beauty within.
Now in it's 59th season, the Birmingham Children's Theatre will be performing &#8220Beauty and the Beast” for adults and children on Nov. 6 at 2 p.m.
According to Edna Johnson, who has been involved with the Arts council for 12 years, said The Brewton Council of the Arts has brought the theatre to Brewton for at least 15 years.
Every four years the theatre group rotates performances, and last year, the performance was Princess and the Pea.
The play is recommended for children who are enrolled in kindergarten to the sixth grade.
The production begins in the Beast's castle where audiences will find him struggling with his dual nature - half man and half beast. The play's adaptation is slightly different from animated productions and ice shows. There will be no dancing candlesticks or talking teacups. Rather, the production focuses on the main message - finding that with love and courage beauty can be found in unexpected places.
The production begins at 2 p.m. and tickets can be bought at the door. Individual tickets sold at the door generally will cost $15 for adults and $8 for students.
