It is usually a given for T.R. Miller Tigers basketball coach Rob Atkinson to be without his full squad in November and often even early December.
While that is the case again this year as the Tigers football team marches through the playoffs, the number of missing bodies from the projected varsity squad is considerably less this year.
The absentees are a far cry from last year when the Tigers were without the services of starters Gerald Banton, Lucas, Damien Jackson and Tye Walker until early December.
The T.R. Miller skipper said there is about a three-week adjustment period for the football players to cross over into basketball shape.
It has not been uncommon for the Tigers to have to shuffle their schedule while the football team competes in the playoffs. Atkinson said he does not expect any adjustments this year.
T.R. Miller currently has three playing dates prior to the end of the football playoffs. Two of them are on back-to-back dates, November 21 at home against Escambia County and 22 at Jay (Fla.). The other contest is November 29 at home against Northview (Fla.).
