Mrs. Wanda Byrd, 47, died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005, at a Pensacola hospital. She was a native of Jay, Fla., and a resident of Century for the past 25 years. She attended the St. Luke Baptist Church, was a secretary for Carnley Electric Company for the past 17 years and was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Byrd.
She is survived by a son, Dwayne Byrd of Tallahassee, Fla.; her mother, Ella Branson of Century; the father of her son, James McKinney of Century; two brothers, Ronald G. Byrd Sr. of Jay and Frankie Peebles of Century.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 3, at 2 p.m. at Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles R. McKinney and the Rev. Samuel Moorer officiating. Burial followed at Cora Cemetery with Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Jeffery Robinson, Reginald Robinson, Anthony Robinson, Felipe Lowery, Joel Baldree, Jeffery Kyser, Patrick Morrison and John Branson Jr.
