Mr. Arlton Leigh Blair, 65, died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2005, at his residence after an extended illness. He was a native of Escambia County and a former resident of Monroe and Conecuh Counties. He was a resident of Brewton and a member of Appleton Church of Christ. He was a U.S. Army veteran, formerly employed at Jefferson Smurfit Corporation with 13 years of service, and a retired supervisor from Alabama River Pulp with 15 years of service. He was preceded in death by a sister, Eva Mae Varner.
He is survived by his mother, Velma Ernestine Blair Hazlett of Castleberry; his wife of 41 years, Dottie Cain Blair of Brewton; two sons, Brian Keith Blair and Gregory Leigh Blair, both of Brewton; one daughter, Alisha (Mitch) Hammock of Brewton; two brothers, Frazier Leigh (Darlo) Blair of Jacksonville, Fla., and Columbus Frederick (Bonnie) Blair of Castleberry; five sisters, Velma Charlotte Haveard, Juliette (James) Sammons and Rachel Cline (J.R.) Millstead, all of Castleberry, Violet Sharlene (Donald) Jernigan of Flomaton and Barbara Hazel (Edwin) Bell of Range; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Ministers Clifford Dixon and Gary Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Copper Cemetery in Castleberry with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
