Mrs. Frances B. Shipp, 78, died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005, in a local nursing facility. She was a native of Columbus, Ga., and had been a resident of East Brewton for the past 44 years. She retired from Skinner Furniture as a bookkeeper. She was a volunteer with the local RSVP and, along with her husband, co-founded WKNU Radio. She was a member of East Brewton First Assembly of God and the Widow's Mite Ladies Group. She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Shipp Jr.
She is survived by two sons, Lawton (Renee) Shipp of East Brewton and Mark Shipp of Destin, Fla.; two brothers, Sam Brown of Columbus and Roy Brown of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Ruby Lee Erskin of Sumter, S.C., and Willie Mae Foskey of Columbus; and two grandchildren, Jay Shipp of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Greg Shipp of East Brewton.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 11 a.m. at East Brewton First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Jeffrey Scurlock officiating. Burial followed at Green Acres Memorial Gardens with Craver's Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Pete McCormick, Howard Smith, Adam Scurlock, Chuck Pace, Bobby Marshall and Ed Seward. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Widow's Mite Ladies Group.
