Harry L. Weaver, veteran Escambia County Superintendent of Education, has announced his retirement from that position effective July 1, 1981.
A Dec. 8 inspection by Deputy Fire Marshal John W. Hammac of Atmore noted 11 deficiencies at the Escambia County Jail, including lack of a second floor fire escape, and no smoke detectors or local fire alarm system.
The Escambia County Board of Education has accepted a Pensacola firm's low id for construction at Flomaton High School.
D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital is one of 21 hospitals participating in the first quarter of 1981 in a cooperative continuing education program for pharmacists and other health care practitioners in Alabama.
Castleberry's second annual parade will be held this Saturday at 10 a.m.
FBLA officers Suzanne Faircloth, Tracie Brown and Karen Thomas delivered packages to the Department of Pensions and Securities.
The Ladies Golf Association held their 18 hole scramble and Christmas luncheon on Thursday, Dec. 18 with Barbara McKendree and Jeanne Scharnitzky taking first place honors.
